We're here to help employers and workers, families and communities reduce unintentional injuries ("accidents"). Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for South Dakotans ages 1 - 44, taking the lives of nearly 500 South Dakotans each year, disabling many more, and sending tens of thousands to emergency departments and hospitals.
More than 300 employers are members of the South Dakota Safety Council. Learn more about

Our goal is to make South Dakota a safer place to live, by helping you be safer wherever you are: at work, at home, at play or on the roadway.
The South Dakota Safety Council, a chapter of the National Safety Council, is a private, not-for-profit organization, established in 1949. It operates in partnership with the Minnesota Safety Council, which allows both organizations to share programs and maximize resources.
